Joe Movie Critic.......Vitus

Vitus.....it's a foreign film with english subtitles about a child piano prodigy who is uncomfortable with his inbelievable talents (piano playing, math & reading skills) and because of this, a source of tension is created between he and his parents. The boy, Vitus, takes a liking to his eccentric grandfather, hangs with him, has thoughts of being a pilot and really learns a lot about life from his loving gramps. Does Vitus use his superior intelligence to make his family's dreams come true or is there another twist to the story? Check it out.

This isn't one of those heady foreign films, but sort of an old fashioned flick that has a great story to it that is set in the present day. It's a hell of a good movie...rent it or buy it. In real life, the boy who plays Vitus (Veetus) is in fact a true child prodigy himself. The gringo household, the Mrs., the 3 Little Joe's, ages 10, 5 and 3 enjoyed it as well......it doesn't hurt that our 10 yr old boy eerily has the same expressions, quirks and mannerisms as Vitus.

I have to say this...even with the movie being in a different language and not being able to read the subtitles at all, since she is just learning to read at kindergarten; Daniella watched Vitus several times, even by herself...the music is so beautiful and so are the settings, and there is something so universal to music and love, that you don't need to know the language to appreciate the beauty of it.
